Glenside Commercial Interiors
moved premises to Reading in August 2020 due to the potential the area offers for growth and other business related factors. We have undertaken commercial interior fit-out projects in and around Reading over many years and are well aware of the vitality of the many high-tech businesses located along the M4 corridor and within the town itself. Recent research from Knight Frank only reinforces our belief that Reading is a good place to be.
Titled "M25 Offices Issue 2 - a changing operational strategy? November 2020," Knight Frank's survey report acknowledges the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on business stating that: "We are in an unprecedented period of uncertainty. The drive toward a gradual re-opening of offices stalled on 22nd September on new government advice, with working from home again a reality for many."
Given the current situation, the research by Knight Frank was conducted on the basis that many companies were now looking at ways to prepare for a different way of working. They claim that “Flexible working and a structure dispersed over a greater geography on paper appears to have many advantages not least environmental and social.”
A top location for a satellite office
In past blog entries, we have highlighted survey findings which indicated that employees are generally favourable to a flexible working strategy, but would only wish to work from home for limited periods. Knight Frank's research found that companies dispersing their operations to multiple locations in the South East would find that: "Employees will demand from firms that the same space quality, connectivity and amenity provision is present regardless of location. Firms will also clearly target locations that are most convenient to their employees to avoid costly staff churn."
For companies looking to set up satellite branches to work in tandem with their Central London offices, the data revealed that Reading was a top ranking option for a potential hub and spoke location. This was particularly related to the factors of Market Dynamics, Business Environment and Combined Connectivity.
Our experience of Reading's dynamic environment and excellent transport links leads us to fully endorse Knight Frank's survey findings. We are delighted with our new office building and showroom facility and to have the opportunity to work within this vibrant hub for business growth.
