While an office fit out may look the part, what use is it if it isn’t functional and practical for your business and employees?
The
layout of your
office can significantly affect how your business functions on a day-to-day basis. In our
analysis and feasibility phase, we gain an in-depth understanding of the needs and challenges that you face as a business. Here are some of the considerations we take in the
planning phase to design the best
office layout for your business:
The first step in planning your project is the
workplace consultancy stage, in which we consider your goals and requirements of your new space. We will first look at how your current workspace is designed. What works well and what doesn't work so well and why? What are your goals for your new space, taking into consideration the company goals and plans for the next 3 to 5 years and how these will affect your office redesign? All of these are considerations that need to be taken into account to ensure your
office redesign is practical and lasting!
While it is very important that we are able to hear from staff directly on how they use the current office and what they require from the new space, we have to be careful to strike a balance between thinking for everyone, whilst not involving everyone. Including too many people could lead to too many opinions in the planning phase, creating confusion and disorganisation. This is why we involve key stakeholders from each team to participate in a focus group, so we can find out exactly what each team needs. This makes it easier to coordinate the
planning and design.
Another key consideration in planning
office layout is to look at which teams work closely together within the business. Which departments communicate regularly with each other, and which teams work well together? It works better logistically to place these teams together.
The
layout of the rooms is also something to take into account. Are the meeting rooms that you use for clients too far away from reception? Are the coffee machines placed near a space where employees need quiet and focus for working? Is your boss's office inadequately soundproofed so you can overhear everything from the adjacent office? We take all of these factors into account and get to know your business and how it functions to ensure that none of these issues occur. By considering the finer details, we ensure that rooms are laid out logically for optimal functionality, making your space suitable for every employee and team.
By undertaking this investigation at the start of the project, we can ensure that we understand your business requirements to create a space that reflects your brand, boosts productivity and increases employee morale.
